Sharon positions the person with mental health issues as the expert in their own lives, rather than focusing on the problems. She understands that seeking help takes courage, and deserves kindness and compassion.
Mental health appointments are available with a Mental Health Care Plan from a General Practitioner for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year. Sharon's usual session length is 1 hour.
Bulk billing can be offered to parents and caregivers, with a low income and a current Mental Health Care Plan.
We may have availability to offer bulk billing or fee reduction to others outside of this group, depending on demand. For those who are employed, the General Consultation fee is $150 per hour, with a Medicare rebate of $82.30 under a Mental Health Care Plan.
Where there is no current Mental Health Care Plan, full fees apply.
Sharon uses parts work and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), together with other approaches (including Psychoeducation, Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioural Therapies, mindfulness, relaxation strategies, Interpersonal and Narrative Therapies) as appropriate. EMDR is a body-based, psycho-therapeutic and empirically validated therapy for a variety of distressing issues, that can facilitate profound healing.
In your first session, Sharon will not ask you to unpack all the difficult experiences of your life. It's important to pace the discussion so you don't leave feeling overwhelmed.
